A Judicial Review is a means whereby the public can challenge the decisions of public bodies.  A group called the Plantagenet Alliance has challenged the issuing of the exhumation licence by the Ministry of Justice and the reinterment plans of the University, on the grounds there should have been wider consultation.  A judge has given an initial ruling that there is a case to consider and the full hearing is scheduled to take place on 26 November and as an Interested Party, we are co-operating fully with all processes involved in this.

The Ministry and University believe they have properly applied the law as it stands and so disagree, and we are also very confident in their case.  Even if a Court were to find in favour of the Alliance, this will only relate to the process of the decision making, and not to its outcome.
