HOME Events

Throughout January you can take part in three free events that tie-in to our current theme of ‘HOME’. See below for details!

Home by another way: Creative reflections for the Epiphany Season

Tuesday 23 January, 7.00pm
Leicester Cathedral

“A cold coming we had of it…” T. S. Eliot

Using T. S. Eliot’s ‘The Journey of the Magi’, this event will explore the theme of travelling and homecoming through poetry, art and personal reflection.

The evening will include an opportunity to respond creatively to the theme through writing and drawing, or simply to enjoy a time of quiet in the beautiful setting of Leicester Cathedral.

Event led by Dr Scott Freer and Dr Mary Ann Lund from the University of Leicester.

Free event – no booking required. Everyone welcome, of all faiths or none.

To be at home: identity and belonging in a changing world

Thursday 25 January, 6.00pm
The University of Leicester

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” Maya Angelou

A panel held at the Rattray Lower Ground Floor Lecture Theatre, University of Leicester, followed by questions and discussions.

This event brings an opportunity to reflect on citizenship and belonging. Falling as it does in Poverty Action Week, we will move beyond bullet points and recommendations to a call for action and solidarity with those in our communities who are homeless, poor and marginalised.
