With cases of infection rising in Leicester and Leicestershire, Leicester Cathedral is now closing our doors to the public but ensuring our online services, events, and prayers are offered during these further weeks of lockdown.
Due to Covid-19, Leicester Cathedral is now closing our doors to the public but ensuring our online services, events, and prayers are offered during these further weeks of lockdown.
The Very Revd David Monteith, Dean of Leicester, said “We now feel on balance that we must really reinforce the message to stay at home. We know we can pray everywhere but some feel the need to do this in the Cathedral alongside many who would wish to receive the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood in person. So this is a painful decision closing this holy sanctuary at the heart of the community. However, it is necessary for the sake of others.”
Morning Prayer will be live-streamed on the Cathedral Facebook page at 8.30am, Monday–Friday.
A lunchtime Holy Communion will be be live-streamed on the Cathedral Facebook page at 1.00pm on Wednesdays.
Our online YouTube service will continue to be released at 10.30am every Sunday. These are available to watch on the Cathedral website and our YouTube channel whenever you want. Click here to watch, along with other recorded services.
