HOLY WEEK

PALM SUNDAY
Sunday 9 April
10.00    Palm Sunday Eucharist
Meet at 10.00 at the Cathedral to gather at Holy Cross Priory at 10.15 to celebrate the Blessing of Palms. The Service continues in Leicester Cathedral from approximately 10.30.

Monday 10 April
11.00    Chrism Eucharist with the Renewal of Ordination Vows, the Celebration of Ministries and the Blessing of the Holy Oils
13.00    Holy Week Meditation Readings, poetry and organ music.

The Cathedral closes after this event and re-opens to the public on Maundy Thursday at 15.00. Most services during that time will take place at St Nicholas Church.

17.30    Holy Week Evensong at St Nicholas Church

Tuesday 11 April
08.30    Morning Prayer access via St Martins East Entrance
13.00    Holy Week Eucharist at St Nicholas Church
17.30    Holy Week Evensong at St Nicholas Church

Wednesday 12 April

11.00    The Royal Maundy Service
By invitation only
15.00    Cathedral open to the public until 17.00
19.30    Eucharist of the Last Supper and Vigil
Please note that the Service concludes at 22.00

GOOD FRIDAY
Friday 14 April
11.00    Leicester @ the Cross
In Humberstone Gate, the story of Easter is remembered and celebrated in songs, words, drama and picture.
12.00 – 15.00 Good Friday Liturgy
A three-hour devotion with prayers, hymns, music, addresses, and silence in half-hour sections, concluding with the Passion Reading and Holy Communion from 14.00. Preachers: The Sub-Dean and Canon Missioner

HOLY SATURDAY
Saturday 15 April
20.00    Easter Vigil with Baptism and Confirmation
Preacher: The Assistant Bishop of Leicester

EASTER DAY
Sunday 16 April
08.00    Eucharist (BCP)
10.30    Festal Eucharist
The Cathedral Choir, accompanied by Arden Brass, sing Jongen’s Mass (Op.130) and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. Incense is used. Preacher: The Bishop of Leicester
15.00    Festal Choral Evensong Preacher: The Dean


EASTER WEEK EXHIBITION
