The nature of the cathedral community is changing and constantly evolving.  With all the recent changes and growth of the cathedral, the community extends beyond those who worship at the cathedral regularly.

Our community now includes many more volunteers, who deal with the daytime visitors; there are more paid staff and increased links with those outside the cathedral building.  All of these are part of our wider Cathedral community.

One role of the committee is to help bring together these different community strands.  The committee tries to reflect this broadening of the community, so that all sections of the wider community feel included.  The committee is involved in organising social events that allow people to meet and get to know each other, as well as working together on a range of projects and activities.  These projects include things like encouraging the collection of food for the food bank, Christmas giving, Eco-church etc.  This is alongside supporting clergy and other staff in carrying out their work.

The committee acts as a voice for the whole community, giving advice and being available to be consulted about matters that directly affect the committee/community.
