DioSing! Choral Director

Born in Westmorland, Katy settled in Leicester after taking a Performing Arts Degree at De Montfort University.  Katy has performed with many choirs, most notably with the Birmingham-based Ex Cathedra Chamber Choir.  She studied singing with the late Pamela Cook MBE for many years and is a member of The Wren Ensemble.

Solo engagements have included:  Dixit Dominus and Athalia (Handel), Mass in C minor (Mozart), Carmina Burana (Orff), Stabat Mater (Pergolesi) and Creation (Haydn).  Katy played the role of Marcellina in Knighton Opera’s production of ‘The Marriage of Figaro’.

With Ex Cathedra Katy has taken part in recordings and broadcasts for the BBC World Service, Radio 4, Radio 3 and BBC Prom Concerts.  She worked for the Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service, including Acting Head of Voice in 2010-11, before joining the Cathedral Staff as a Choral Director in September 2013.  She conducts ‘Sing4Fun’, the South Wigston Community Choir.
