Assistant Director of Music

Simon Headley is the Assistant Director of Music at Leicester Cathedral, a position that he has held since September 2005.  During this time he has twice been Acting Director of Music, holding overall responsibility for music at the Cathedral including the training and directing of the Cathedral Choir for the (almost) daily sung services as well as for various special services.

As Assistant Director of Music his primary role is as organist for the statutory services of the Cathedral.  From September 2013 year that contribution has been recognised with his appointment as Cathedral Organist and Assistant Director of Music.

He enjoys the opportunity to conduct the various choirs of the Cathedral from time to time and assist in their training.  Recently, it was particularly good to direct the Cathedral Chamber Choir in a performance of Benjamin Britten’s Flower Songs in an evening of music and poetry as part of the Cathedral Flower Festival.  Simon is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists.
