All are welcome as we mark the start of Lent with a Choral Eucharist, with music sung by the Cathedral Choir, congregational hymns, and ashing.
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. This is a season of preparation characterised by penitence, fasting, and prayer in which the Christian church prepares for the celebration of Christ's death and resurrection in Holy Week and at Easter.
During the service, you will be invited to receive the sign of the cross in ash on your forehead as a symbol of penitence.
