Leicester Cathedral offers a variety of tours to suit every taste.
Groups can choose to self-guide with an audio guide, combine a 15-minute introductory talk with a free-flow visit, or to be led by one of our experienced Cathedral guides.
All groups visiting the Cathedral should book in advance by completing the booking form available from cathedralbookings@leicestercofe.org.
Self-Guided Visit with Audio Guide
Audio tour highlights include the tomb of King Richard III, the Redemption Windows and other stained glass inspired by the Arts and Craft movement, as well as the story of the Cathedral and its architectural features. Specialist audio descriptive audio guides are available for those who are blind or partially sighted.

Introductory Talk with Free-Flow Visit
This talk covers the medieval history of St Martin's church, the development of the building, its importance as a place of pilgrimage and its 20th century elevation to become the Cathedral church of Leicester.
TICKET PRICE: £5 per person
Full Cathedral Tour
This hour-long tour covers all aspects of the Cathedral's rich history and includes artefacts spanning the medieval era to contemporary times. Prepare to be dazzled by Tom Denny's Redemption Windows, our alabaster high altar, the tomb of Richard III, our two icons and our 14th century figures of ease, amongst an array of other artefacts.

Cathedral Highlights Tour
This 45-minute tour picks out the highlights of Leicester Cathedral including the Richard III elements, some of its beautiful stained glass, its medieval artefacts and the exquisite alabaster high altar. If you haven't got the time to experience a full tour, this could be the option for you.

Richard III Tour
This 40-minute tour looks at the magnificent tomb of Richard III, and visits the Herrick Memorial chapel, the site of the Richard III Redemption windows and the grave of Robert Herrick, the late 16th and early 17th century mayor of Leicester with an interesting link with our medieval king. In our newly opened Heritage & Learning Centre, you'll look in the detail at the exquisitely embroidered pall that covered the coffin of Richard III whilst he lay in repose.

Hidden Gems Tour
This 45-minute tour features a range of precious and unusual objects, which explore the fascinating history of Leicester Cathedral. Introduced in 2025, it will captivate history seekers of all ages. Amongst the highlights are our carved baptismal shell, our 16th century Russian icon, our rare wooden fan vaulted north porch, and the pietra dura coat of arms that adorns Richard III's tomb.

Windows Highlights Tour
Reflecting a range of artistic styles, this 45-minute tour takes a close look at the Cathedral's stained-glass windows, including Christopher Whall's memorial to the First World War, the Great East Window, a second work telling the legend of St Martin, daughter Veronica Whall's window celebrating the life of St Dunstan and Tom Denny's Richard III Redemption Windows.
