Venue Hire

Leicester Cathedral is a city centre attraction and an iconic symbol of the county and its rich history. As the resting place of King Richard III, who was reinterred here in 2015, the Cathedral is a site of national historical significance. Having been closed for major refurbishment works since 2021 we are excited to invite visitors back into the revitalised space and host a diverse programme of services and events as part of our mission to be a beating heart for the city and county.

The Cathedral is now a fully accessible and versatile space that can be adapted to suit each venue hire request. Our largest space for hire is the Cathedral Nave which can accommodate a variety of services or events including concerts, performances, dinners, talks and receptions.

We are currently taking booking enquiries but ask potential hirers to note that the building will not return to its full capacity until the new extension is completed later this year. Once this extension is completed, we will have two new spaces (a Learning Centre and an Exhibition centre) and improved facilities. These new spaces, in addition to our Chapels, will be available to hire for smaller and more intimate bookings.

Our Cathedral Events Development Policy will inform our programming decisions alongside the nature of the site and its regular schedule of worship. Events or services that require the full closure of the Cathedral will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and we ask all hirers to be mindful and respectful of our core values.
