Visiting Hours
Our normal daily visiting hours are:
Monday to Friday
9.00am – 5.00pm
Saturday
10.00am – 5.00pm
Sunday
12.00pm – 3.00pm
The Tomb of Richard III can be visited between 10.30am–4.30pm from Monday to Saturday, and between 12.30–3.00pm on Sundays.
Some parts of the building are inaccessible for general visiting while a service is taking place. Our daily pattern of services can be found here.
Occasionally, there are special services or events which may affect our opening hours or access to parts of the building. These will be announced here on our Closures page below.
Cathedral Closures
Occasionally, there are special services or events which may affect our opening hours, or may restrict access to certain parts of the building. We will list these dates below.
Friday 16 May
The Cathedral is closed today due to technical issues with the building. We apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience caused. We will provide further information at the first opportunity. Tonight's 'Launch to Mars' event is still going ahead as scheduled.
Monday 19 May
After Morning Eucharist, the Cathedral won't be open to public visiting until 2.00pm.
Monday 26 May
For the Spring Bank Holiday, the Cathedral will open at 10.00am.
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting during the lunchtime recital, from 12.30–1.15pm. All are welcome to the recital, which is free to attend with donations welcome.
The Cathedral will close at 4.00pm.
Saturday 31 May
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting from 2.00pm, for a wedding. The building will reopen at 3.30pm.
Saturday 7 June
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting from 2.30pm, for the Called Together Service.
Saturday 21 June
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting from 12.00pm, for a wedding. The building will reopen at 2.30pm (some parts of the building will be restricted during choir rehearsals).
Wednesday 25 June
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting during Ordination services rehearsals, from 9.00am–12.00pm.
Saturday 28 June
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting during the Ordination Service, from 3.00pm.
Sunday 29 June
The Cathedral has a later opening time of 1.00pm, following the Ordination Service.
Monday 7 July
The Cathedral has a later opening time of 1.30pm.
Tuesday 8 July
The Cathedral has a later opening time of 1.30pm (the Eucharist service will be held at St Nicholas Church).
Saturday 12 July
The Cathedral is closed for general visiting from 12.30pm, for a wedding. The building will reopen at 2.30pm.
