Discipleship

Here at Leicester Cathedral, we invite you to journey with us as we explore what it means to follow Christ and grow in faith together.

Our Discipleship programme is guided by three movements:

    1. Moving Up - Listening to God's love and letting who we are be shaped by this love;
    2. Moving In - Deepening God's love by learning together and from each other as a community;
    3. Moving Out - Sharing God's love by engaging the world around us and recognising God's presence within it.

Subscribe to our Discipleship newsletter by emailing Jude.Taylor@LeicesterCofE.org

"Discipleship starts with being alone with God in solitude; then it creates a fellowship, a community of people with whom the mission is being lived; and finally this community goes out together to heal and to proclaim good news."

Henri Nouwen (Priest)

Bible Together: Luke

Wednesdays 2, 9, 16 October

In person: St George's Chapel - 11.00am
Online: Zoom - 7.00pm

In this new short course, we will journey through extracts from the extraordinary stories of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as told from the perspective of Luke. We will read, listen and wonder together, looking at spiritual practices such as Lectio Divina and Dwelling in the Word, in the hope that this will allow us to grow in faith alongside each other, whilst also encouraging us in our own individual discipleship beyond the course.

'Bible Together' draws on our 'Questions Together' model, rooted in our approach to discipleship here at Leicester Cathedral, which is centred around storytelling, conversation and wondering about God together.

This free short course is offered both in person at the Cathedral in the morning and online in the evening. Please visit our Eventbrite page to book onto the online course.

'I will give you rest' - a Quiet Morning for Autumn

Saturday 5 October | 10.30am–12.30pm

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' (Matthew 11.28)

Join us for our next seasonal quiet morning, an opportunity to reflect on the importance of rest in relation to our discipleship, and to practise resting with God and with scripture.

What does Christ's call to come to him in our weariness mean in the context of a society that often prioritises productivity and 'doing' over 'being', and how does this relate to living out our faith?

Through guided reflection, quiet time and permission to simply 'be' in the quiet comfort of the Cathedral, we aim to spend a morning reflecting and resting together.

For ages 11+ (children must be accompanied by an adult). Register via Eventbrite.
