Leicester Uncovered

Once again, Leicester Cathedral finds itself at the centre of a new archaeological excitement!

Earlier this year, over two thousand years of history were uncovered by archaeologists in Cathedral Gardens, revealing traces of Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans and succeeding generations up until the Victorian age.

The finds are of huge significance and will tell us many new and exciting stories about Leicester's past.

Because they were discovered on our site and during our development work, the Cathedral has a responsibility to fund their assessment and analysis.

We have a big target to meet and are hoping to raise £100k towards this target from supporters like you – who care about our Cathedral and are interested in our collective past.

Please donate what you can. Thank you.

To find out more about the finds and about our fundraising campaign, please read the booklet and watch the short film below.
