Diocese and Cathedral Social Responsibility Enabler

Alison Adams has lived in Leicestershire for most of her adult life.  Before coming to the Cathedral in 2013 she managed the Chaplaincy in Glen Parva Young Offenders Institution, a role she thoroughly enjoyed.  Prior to that, for several years, Alison happily ran the Bloxham Project, a long-established national organisation focussing on school chaplaincy, pastoral care and spirituality.

Alison’s background is teaching and, for some years, she taught locally at Beaumont Leys School, first as Head of Music and then as Head of Maths, before moving on to Nottinghamshire as a Deputy Head.

Alison studied first at Girton College, Cambridge, then Birmingham, Sheffield and Nottingham Universities.  She is happily married to John, whom she met through music, and they still really enjoy performing together.  She finds it a great privilege being Grandma to five lively school-age children, whom she and John see frequently and take on holiday.

Leisure activities include concerts and theatre-going, together with travel and reading.
