Acting Canon Missioner
Pete Hobson was ordained about as young as you’re allowed to be, back in 1977 in Manchester. He worked in two inner-city parishes in Manchester up until 1992, and was then Team Rector in Hackney Marsh until 2000 when he came to Leicester, as vicar of the Martyrs, Westcotes.
From 2006 – 2008 he combined that with the job of leading the new diocesan ‘Shaped by God’ strategy, and then from 2009 took on the Cathedral Square Project, the first part of which was creating what is now St Martins House. From 2011 to 2013 he was director of St Martins House and joined the Cathedral as Acting Canon Missioner in May 2013, mainly to lead the Richard III project. He is also chair of the national Church of England Clergy Advocates, a branch of Unite the Union.
Pete is married to Sue. They have 5 adult children and 6 grandchildren.
