DioSing Outreach Programme

DioSing, the Cathedral's schools' singing programme, was launched in September 2012 to establish permanent partnerships between schools, churches in the wider Diocese, and the Cathedral.

Vocal specialists teach classroom singing for an hour a week in primary schools across the city and county, delivering lessons designed around the National Curriculum for Music. Children learn a range of skills including reading rhythms and notation, aural skills, and a sound vocal technique, and also have the opportunity to compose their own music, play desk bells and glockenspiels, and learn about the orchestra. Children who wish to develop their singing can do so by auditioning to become a Cathedral Chorister.

Recent performances by schools participating in DioSing have included:

  • Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat by Tim Rice
  • Troy Story by Andrew Oxspring
  • Let Loose by Andrew Oxspring
