Choral Evensong with the Installation of the Bishop of Loughborough

Date: Sun, 28th Jan 2024, 15:30 - 17:00

Venue: Leicester Cathedral

A special service of Choral Evensong with the Installations of the Bishop of Loughborough and Honorary Canons, and the commissioning of the Diocesan Womens' Ministry Group.

The Rt Revd Saju Muthulaly will be installed as Bishop of Loughborough at a special Choral Evensong service in Leicester Cathedral on Sunday 28 January 2024 at 3.30pm. He became the Bishop of Loughborough in 2022, moving to Leicestershire from Gillingham where he was vicar of St Mark's church. His installation was delayed due to the closure of the Cathedral for its Leicester Cathedral Revealed renovations.

An Installation is a Christian liturgical act that formally inducts an incumbent into a new role at a particular place such as a Cathedral. The term arises from the act of symbolically leading the incumbent to their stall or throne within the Cathedral.

The service will also see the installation of three Honorary Canons – Nathan Morley, Revd David Palmer, and Revd Gill Pennington, and the Commissioning of the Diocesan Womens' Ministry Group.

All are welcome to attend the service. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
